Do You Use Coupons?

September 10th, 2007 at 10:06 pm

Have you ever used coupons? If so, you already know the more coupons you have the greater your savings at the checkout.

If you watch your Sunday papers you can get coupons on a weekly basis. Once you have those coupons watch for sales on the product.

Do your stores double or triple coupons? Ours doubles them and some times on certain days will triple them. We have one grocery store that even doubles $1 coupons certain times of the year.

Check out your stores coupon policy. Get in on the coupon savings and start saving money at the checkout! You can also check out some online frugal sites like refundsweepers.com which has around 30 money saving forums and refundcents or refundexpress which you subscribe to and get a refunding coupon magazine in the mail. Oh, I forgot to mention if your stores will take printable grocery coupons for name brand products you can print them at refundsweepers.com and at valpak.

Get the coupons, get them doubled and buy the items when they are on sale. If you don't have a coupon or the item is not on sale, buy the no brand names. Also, shop at dollar stores especially for gift wrap and holiday items.

I think the best advice when it comes to couponing is to buy things that you already buy. Unless you are getting said item with a coupon for free, of course. I also think that using coupons along with a sale maximizes the savings. For example, today I bought 2 different boxes of instant oatmeal. One box was on sale 5/$10 - - I had a $.70 coupon that was doubled (fortunately the store in question, which is a small independent(not part of a chain) doubles up to $1, EVERYDAY!) that made the one box of oatmeal $.60. The other box, which was a new style/type of oatmeal, was on sale 2/$5 - - I had a coupon for $1, which made this box of oatmeal $.50. Therefore, I got $4.50 worth of on sale oatmeal for $1.50. These 2 boxes should/will last for at least 2 months.

To get the most out of grocery coupons is to use them at stores that double or triple the coupons and buy items that are on sale.
