Oh, I forgot to mention if your stores will take printable grocery coupons for name brand products you can print them at refundsweepers.com and at valpak.

Get the coupons, get them doubled and buy the items when they are on sale. If you don't have a coupon or the item is not on sale, buy the no brand names. Also, shop at dollar stores especially for gift wrap and holiday items.
