People often do not realize the benefit of using coupons. Most families can save a good deal of money off their grocery bill with the use of coupons. Are they worth the effort, yes! Learn how to save the most with your coupons.
Check the coupon policies for the grocery stores in your area. Try to shop at a grocery store that will double the face value of a coupon. In our area some of our grocery stores will double the face value of a coupon to .50 cents. This means if I use a .50 coupon on an item and the item costs $1.00 or more, they will take $1.00 off the price of the item. If that item costs less then $1.00 I will get it free.
If the items you can get for free or almost free are items you will not use, you can give them to charity, give them out as gifts, or trade them on the bargains forum or the stockpile forum. A nice gift idea is to create a themed basket full of your unwanted items. An example would be a gift basket full of all baby products for a baby shower gift.
Watch your sale papers and try to buy your items when they are on sale. Use your coupons on the sale item when it is on sale and always shop at a store that will double that coupon. This gives you three ways to save on an item.
1. It's on sale when you buy it
2. You used your coupon to buy it when it was on sale
3. You shopped at a store that doubled that coupon
Be sure to check your grocery stores for extra savings such as in store points programs and reward programs where you earn points which later can be redeemed for free stuff.
Enjoy the savings!

If you look at the sale papers sometimes you will also find that not only do grocery stores double coupons, some will even triple them. Our Meijers store has tripled them up to .35 value on certain days. That's .35 x 3 = $1.05 off an item.
If you get alot of free items trade or sell them for free on the refundsweepers stockpiles forum or bargains forum.
Our smaller grocery stores try to get customers in by double coupons up to and including $1 value. That means $2 off an item when they will double the $1 coupon. Usually that item comes out free.
Good luck with the savings!!!

Find the item on sale in your sale papers
Take the coupon to use on the sale product
Try to shop at double coupon stores
I have noticed that often our stores have the items on sale within one to three weeks from the time the coupons come out in the Sunday paper. So cut your coupons right out of the Sunday paper so you are ready if a sale occurs within a week from you getting the coupon.
